children's book author
About Me
Welcome to my website. I write children's books for all ages and in all genres.
I have written over 30 books for children, including (publishing in 2026) my two latest young fiction series, 'Dream Keepers' and 'Nora Nightsky' and a fun non-fiction lift-the-flap title, 'The Science of Everything'. I have two young fiction series launching in 2027, one from a beloved heritage literary estate and one under a pseudonym - watch this space!
Before I was a writer, I worked in publishing in-house as an editor. My first job in publishing was at Scholastic where I worked on Horrible Histories just as the first TV series was launching. I then moved to Faber where I was lucky enough to edit Katherine Rundell's mega-award-winning 'Rooftoppers' alongside project-managing new editions of classics like T. S. Eliot's 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats' and Ted Hughes' 'The Iron Man'. Following that, I managed Children's Classic Characters at Puffin such as Peter Rabbit, the Very Hungry Caterpillar, Spot and the Moomins.
And before all that, I grew up in Oxford, Belfast and Cheshire, returning to Oxford for university to study Classics. I went on several Latin and Greek summer schools, studying archaeology at the British School at Athens and the British School at Rome. I am still obsessed with ancient cultures and have been working on a new story in this old world...
I now live in London with my family, where I write and go to as many museums and musicals as I can. In my spare time, I sing in a choir, have also returned to adult ballet classes, I bake often and I have set myself a National Year of Reading Challenge to read all the classics suggested by Matilda Wormwood's librarian - see my Substack to follow my progress!
